This book, devoted to the history of the Continental Toy Spaniel, is the result of extensive documentary research. It also highlights and pays tribute to the personalities who contributed to the birth and development of the two varieties of the breed, the Papillon (erect ears) and the Phalène (hanging ears). 

It is richly illustrated, which makes it even more interesting. Several colour pictures and drawings by animal artists have been rescued from oblivion. Enthusiasts will find the various standards of the breed. A study on the genetics of coat colours completes the book.
